As contemporary psychotherapies are discovering common core paradigms of relationship and dialogue, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new journal, Studies in Gestalt Therapy: Dialogical Bridges. This journal supports the development of gestalt therapy — and psychotherapy in general — through dialogical bridges among modalities and across the divide of different terminologies.

Our journal will engage in meaningful dialogues so that basic differences and commonalities may be explored hermeneutically. The first issue will appear in Spring 2007.

Each issue will have a different theme and will be structured as follows:

  • Section 1: Expert gestalt therapists engage in a dialogue with one another as they answer questions on theory and practice that are posed to them by the editors and by renowned psychotherapists from other modalities;
  • Section 2: An essay hermeneutically explores the link between core concepts of gestalt therapy and contemporary, historical, social, or clinical concerns;
  • Section 3: Practitioners of different modalities engage in a dialogue concerning actual instances of transcribed clinical sessions;
  • Sections 4 and 5: Critical reports on gestalt therapy conferences and critical reviews of relevant writings and essays, with an emphasis on developing gestalt therapy and establishing bridges to other modalities, are the topics of these sections;
  • Section 6: The current issue of this journal itself is critically evaluated to see how it achieves its stated mission. This section provides the ground for the following issue.

This journal is edited by Dan Bloom (New York) editor-in-chief, Margherita Spagnuolo Lobb (Italy), and Frank-M. Staemmler (Germany). It will be published twice each year and subscriptions are 50 euros per year, postage included.

We accept subscriptions on our web site, www.studies-in-gestalt.org, where more information about the journal may also be found. US subscribers can send a $65 check payable to:
